The baby vending machine is a portrait of a woman as a "baby machine".  The babies pictured are different types of "King Cake" babies. These plastic toys are representations of  baby Jesus that would be put in a cake eaten during the celebration of Mardi Gras or the Epiphany. The vulva depicted in this painting is based on a pocket pussy (a plastic sex toy).
